Welcome to Fantom Island, where iLL-Literacy's legend finds its habitat. If you've happened upon this portal, may we be as bold as to assert that nested in you is a healthy curiosity. Whether you were drawn here by the Slanted i at this page's 1-o-clock, the quick flash of during loading, or simply because you have a click-happy finger – you've arrived. HihowRUhi?

The peculiar thing about Fantom Island is that it is but a mirage – an Imaginary oasis isolated in the confines of our brainwaves. We shall gradually reveal morsels of our folklore here, so please visit often. To return, simply bring your Imagination as your passport.

ILL-PHOTO: Weekend in Philly

Yoooooo iLL-Literates!  Adriel here.  I’ve realized that we really need to step up on the tour photos game, and for that I apologiiiiiiiize!  We’ll be better, and I’ll prooooove it to you baby.  Just mosey on past the jump.

Here’s the iLL-Mobile, our trusty 9-seater vanstravaganza that, complete with flatscreen TV and Xbox360 has been taking us up and down the coast for the past week.  Runs on diesel so you know it’s hardcore shit.

On Friday we drove down from Ithaca (thanks for the bombdiggity show, Cornell!) to Philly to prepare for Saturday’s show at Swarthmore College.  Thanks to our ever-spacious back storage, we didn’t have to play tetris with our bags like we normally do.

[insert immature comment with childish laughter here]

When we got to Philly we met up with the homie Catzie who has been our Philly jawn ambassador since day uno.  Yep, the same Catzie that wrote this week’s feature of Ruby on two.one.five..

Here’s a picture of us not getting into the Q-Tip show.

Fortunately, we were comforted by the discovery of a mural of iLL-Literacy drawn on a Chinatown wall.  See Dahlak on the bottom?

We ended up hitting Yakitori Boy, a karaoke bar that was not ready for OJ’s rendition of “When Doves Cry,” or Ruby and Tezeta’s “The Boy is Mine.”

Here’s Nico…either mid-croon or post-sake bomb:

The next day we made a quick appearance at the Community College of Philadelphia, courtesy of Michelle (Catzie’s fellow Yellow Rager).  How come cats never wanna sit in the front row?

We had a great time though.  Much love to the Spoken Word Organization that brought us out.  Here’s the only photo taken in Philly that I’m actually in.  I’m hella mad that my camera takes sucky blurry pix.

So, whenever I’m in Philly, Catzie takes it upon herself to bring me to the bombest food joints, and the last time she took me to Denise’s Soul Food truck and I’ve been jonesing since.  I’d swim to Philly from Cali for that mac&cheese.

That evening we hit Swarthmore, where we played at the Olde Club, aka MY FAVORITE VENUE OF THE TOUR YET!!!!!!!!!!!  It was a small room that got so packed during the show folks were overflowing from the balcony, all up and down the stairs and even lined up outside.

Crazy crazy drawings…like a scene out of A Clockwork Orange or Teletubbies or something.

We’ve got footage of the show, but I gotta check to see how the sound is.  Here’s a picture of us and some nice ladies from Bryn Mawr, with Dahlak not paying attention in the background.  Sorry for the boring descriptions.  It’s 4am now, and I’m going to sleep, dammit.
