“I don’t like to do 99¢ songs.” – E.Badu
Especially in today’s fast-paced music world where people are putting out 3 mixtapes a year and dropping remixes every couple of days, the fact that we spent all year working on the 5 tracks in iB4the1.1 does at times make me feel like the fat kid in P.E. (not to diss fat kids…fat kids were actually still faster than me, but it’s a more commonly-used analogy than the “skinny chinese kid with weak arms.” but i digress). It’s good to know that most of my favorite artists (minus Weezy F.) take their good ol’ time to make well-rounded classic tracks. And I must admit, despite this being near-blasphemous, I’m more excited about about Erykah Badu‘s new album than I am for Sade‘s *GASP*! Not that I’m not excited about Sade’s. Dammit, how did I end up offending fat kids and Sade fans in the same paragraph???
Anyway, here’s a new video courtesy of Creative Control, the same folks who brought us the dope dope Blakroc video a few weeks ago. This one doesn’t really preview any of her new music, but it does feature Erykah opening her mouth and words coming out of it, which is always a great thing. So in the meantime, here’s “Annie,” which she keeps teasing us with at shows but hasn’t placed on any of her records yet. Booyah!
