
By now I’m sure you’ve heard of the tragic quake in Haiti that has left hundreds of thousands dead, and a third of the population in need of immediate care. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone directly and indirectly affected. Although there are a multitude of larger organizations that are involved in the relief efforts, I’m pleased to see that much of the attention is being pointed to Yele, an organization founded by Wyclef Jean that has been intensively focused on social, cultural, and economic development in Haiti for years now. In the past we’ve have issues regarding our donation money actually getting to the people, and Yele is a great bet that it’ll be used properly.

Also, I don’t want to spend much time politicizing an event that affects so many in such a personal way, but oftentimes when tragedies like this strike, we’re quick to cross sympathy with pity.
