UNDER THE INFLUENCE: Jay-Z on Real Time with Bill Maher

While a lot of musicians aspire to one day feature on 106th & Park or The Wake-Up Show, here at iLL-Lit we fantasize about being on Real Time (not to say we don’t want to be on the others…call me, Sway!).  For me personally, it’s one of the few remaining media outlets that are in the same vein as Kenneth Clark and the Pierre Berton Show, where artists are given a platform to discuss school of thought, as opposed to just promoting a song or album.  As passionate as I am about the art we produce, the one thing that I might eventually become more obsessed about is transmitting the science behind that art.

For this reason I have the utmost respect for Jay-Z, who makes few television appearances, and when he does he opts to appear on shows that hip-hop artists seldom have access to.  Here’s a dope candid interview with Bill Maher and DUDE…check out the behemoth lyric book that he’s presented with!

Check out the other 2 parts of the interview over with our homies Blind I.
