I’m brainstorming a piece about campus activism right now.  Especially in light of Dahlak’s protest against the UC protests (which I strongly back him up on), there is a whole can of worms centered around the themes of sides, stances, and the ways we go about dealing with them.  Ultimately, topics like school fee increases are microcosms of a greater issue dealing with the distribution of power.  When I was in college, it was often hard for me to veer from specific areas of focus, especially when it’s drenched with the valuable passion that young and newly-politicized individuals often possess.

Writer and activist Arundhati Roy is especially gifted in understanding the paradox of balancing worldwide issues with micro dilemmas.  I’m drawn to her advocacy for imagination as a strong tool for effective resistance, and as a gateway to realizing human potential.
