British punk pop outfit The Noisettes break some ground in the concept of collaborative art with their new video “Saturday Night.” Equipping a roomful of people to film live on the set, the outcome is a dope montage from slightly different perspectives.  Very dope.

AUDIO: Big Boi ft. Gucci Mane “Shine Blockas”

I really appreciate that a single named Big Boi ft. Gucci Mane “Shine Blockas” can manage to be so dope despite the fact that only half of the words in that title are actually spelled like the words they’re meant to be.  But then again, I’ve never seen Gucci Mane with long hair, and there’s a certain amount of possibility that he can actually grow a mane made of Gucci, thus the name “Gucci Mane.” Perhaps it would be more clear if his name was “Mane of Gucci” or even “My Hair is Naturally Made of Gucci, and it Slightly Resembles a Mane.  I Don’t Know Why, I Was Just Born That Way.” I’ve been growing my hair out, in fact, for the very chance that one day I’ll wake up with a mane of Gucci.  Knowing my broke thrift-shopping ass though, I’d probably end up with something much cheaper than one made of Gucci.  H&M Mane.  OshKosh B’Gosh Mane.  No Limit Gear Mane.

OutKast.  King shit.

I DIGIT: Noisettes

October 8th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Audio, I Digit, Video

Now that we’re starting to settle into our new abode I’ve been finally left with an ounce of time to check out some of the musics that I’ve been missing out on this summer.  One of my favorite findings is actually a band that’s pretty huge in the UK already, Noisettes.  The lead singer Shingai Shoniwa‘s voice is rich and smokey, and will probably strike a similar chord as Brit-counterparts Amy Winehouse and Adele.  But as Nico (who’s probably taken an even bigger liking to these guys) puts it, it’s great to hear a black-woman-sounding singer who’s actually a black woman singer.  Wait, am I allowed to say that?  I’m quoting Nico.  DON’T BLAME THE TRANSLATOR!!!

Check out the doooooope Kanye x Noisettes mashup mixtape Wild Young Heartbreak recently dropped by Mick Boogie and Terry Urban.  Been playing nonstop.
