I know, I know. I’m suppose to be on vacation. But when I told Jon Reyes I was home, he told me he had just talked to 5th Ave about featuring me on this beat that he had just made as the closing song to the project they were finishing this coming weekend. The stars had aligned. I barely made the cut for Delorean’s new project The Bridge, which drops on July 20th. We are all in for a treat!
For now, study up on the group by checking out their first album, No More Heroes, being released for FREE on their website tomorrow! Don’t sleep. I’m on “Chillin’”, “Young Super” might be one of the illest hip-hop beats you’ll ever hear, and the intro/outro makes me feel like I’m hearing Saul Williams busting at the Nuyorican for the first time.
By the time you’ve gotten over the first one, you’ll be prepared to cross The Bridge. Take a peek and see for yourselves!
I mean, hey. You’re talking to the guy who doesn’t drink Hennessey anymore because it makes me snooze at clubs. I’m just staying, Alice. You fell asleep at a party? A masquerade party??? And you didn’t wake up with a carrot where the sun don’t shine? Consider yourself lucky you didn’t find out how deep the rabbit hole goes.
The homies Delorean, y’all!!! So fresh, they crammed into our SXSW room and didn’t even stink up the spot. Hoo-hah!
Our good friends Jon Reyes and 5th Ave of Delorean fame put together this lil short film documenting their journey through 3 shows, plus catching The Foreign Exchange live…ALL IN ONE DAY!!!! And here I am feeling all productive because I showered and made a sandwich…ALL IN ONE DAY!!!!
Follow as they eat ribs, rock mics, and attempt to meet Nicolay and Phonte. HEY! We met Nicolay back in the day too! Except it was when he told us to take down a mixtape track using one of his beats (womp womp womp). No beef though. I’m just sayin. Ruby’s “For the Fallen” was some hot shit that has been banned from the internets, due to a certain homeboy. No beef though.
But this post isn’t about us, it’s about Delorean, whose album No More Heroes is ridiculously hot and you should cop it right NOW.
“What you been listening to?” has always been a hard question for me to answer – “I mean, do you want me to list the song titles?” But lately, it has never been so clear: whatever is on my iPod shuffle, Drake’s So Far Gone, and the advanced copy of Delorean’s No More Heroes. Yeah, that’s right. Sacramento’s own Delorean, the rapper-producer duo, 5th Ave and Jon Reyes…and I can’t tell you how excited I am to have some more local inspiration colonizing my stereo system! I’ll make sure to write up a detailed explanation on why this album is the SHIT when it officially drops on June 16th. For now, just listen to poet-extraordinaire David Scott bless the introductory title track and maybe then you’ll get idea of the ride you’ll be taking with Delorean.

Samples are great and they also suck bigtime. Because you get tiny little morsels to nibble on and it tastes oh so good, but they are tiny little morsels. So while we’re glad our Neighborhood Watch cuzzos Delorean have dropped another sampler for No More Heroes, and it sounds hella fresh, we’re still waiting for the real deal to drop…we’re hungry!!
Here we gooooo…told y’all that the music was gonna start rolling in! Those of you who caught us on the Natural Electricity tour this past fall will recognize this cut as Drizz’s outro to Dahlak and N.I.C’s “Never Know.” On tour we threw it behind the 808’s on Kanye’s “Love Lockdown,” but for the feel “Coldest Winter” was the biz so we updated it in light of the recent weeks and laid it to track. Enjoy!
IT BEGINS!! The floodgates are opening, there’s plenty of music dropping this year from our extended fam, and we’ll be bringing it to you quicker than you can say shababalapoobie. Our iLL-homie 5th Ave. (Dahlak’s fellow co-founder of The Neighborhood Watch) and Jon Reyes (producer of some hotttttt iLL-shit coming up soon!) are dropping their EP entitled The Delorean! Yes, as in flux capacitor Doc Brown your fly is open McFlyness. Check it out. Don’t be a Biff.
Yo, our iLL-homie 5th Ave has been pumping out music like Lauryn Hill pumps out babies, who pumps out babies like Lil Wayne pumps out music. This month he’ll be dropping the Bright City Lights EP, and WE have the official leak! We can’t shoot you the whole thing quite yet, but here’s the very very fresh opening track, “Let the Moon Shine Dawg.” Still sounds good during the daytime.
