Superfresh emcee scholar Colin Ehara recently published an article in the Nichibei Times entitled “5 Mixed Heritage Asian American Hip-Hoppers to Watch for in 2010,” and Nico’s on the list along with Lyrics Born, Aple.De.Ap of Black Eyed Peas, Fatgums, and Mike Shinoda!  Ummm…thanks for blowing our spot, Colin…with Ruby gone we’ve been trying to milk the fact that everyone thinks Nico’s full Filipino.  There goes our October gigs, ay nako!

Senbei’s one of those guys who is always online on your buddy list but always with an away message like “HOMEWORK!!!!! :-X” and then you feel sad for him for a second before returning to watching Michael Phelps apologize to China.  But amidst toughing it through his first year in graduate school he’s managed to craft Shikata Ga Nai Vol. II, his first self-produced project.  Daps to everyone putting in their work for the ‘09!  Here’s a track, “Social Tool”…and yes, Adriel’s going as Drizzletron now.

Amidst 4-hour commutes through unrecognizable areas of the country, emptying our wallets splitting dingy expensive meals from the hotel lobby restaurants (Nico: “Are there any restaurants walking distance from here?” Front Desk: “No.”), and long strenuous soundcheck sessions, we’ve found supple time to miss the Bay.  Fortunately, good folks like Senbei rations us a tiny bit of Cali with his new track, “Lost,” reflecting on the crazy state where you can elect the first black president and strip away gay rights on the same ballot.
