Okay..so it’s not quite Wednesday and it’s not quite wordy…but in preparation for our new single “The HereNow” dropping (technically) today, I thought I’d post this old studio session where I’m speaking WORDS while my good friend A.V. of State Cap aka Sammy Hi-Life aka SamWise aka Sam Goody aka Samuel Jackson is re-laying the killer guitar riff with a REAL guitar!

And just in case, I thought I’d post a throwback video of me spitting my verse from “The HereNow”. You didn’t get back then, but TODAY you will. Peace!

Pretty much for as long as I’ve been familiar with the term “d-bag,” I’ve felt that only true d-bags actually use the term “d-bag.” With that said, I felt like a real d-bag when I started using “d-bag” a lot, thanks to that one d-bag from State Cap, A.V., who toured with us and the Hi-Lifes last fall as our guitarist, and who was also the d-bag responsible for implementing “d-bag” into our daily conversation. Okay, now I just feel like a straight up douche.

Anyway, I was perusing SoHo with the iLLs yesterday when A.V. hit me up allllll the way from his new home in Mississippi to make me feel utterly useless, being that even while relocated to the South, he still managed to push out a mixtape with the rest of State Cap in Sac and SF. And it is the HEAT! Check out “Star of Wonder.”

SACRAMENTO STAND UP! Our hometown favorites State Cap are celebrating the release of their brand new mixtape, Where Is State Cap? tonight at Java Lounge in Sacramento! Yeah, it’s a bit of a last-minute notice…so for those of you who can’t make it to the city of trees, here’s a track called “Gotta Know” from the joint, featuring your boy Dahlak:

As much as we do as iLL-Literacy, the Neighborhood Watch–our Sacramento cousin collective that Dahlak’s also a part of–grinds hard enough to put the greatest of workaholics to shame. Next up to the plate is the ridiculously dope crew State Cap, comprised of A.v. aka Judge Dread bka Sammy Hi-Life cka the badass guitarist in the iLL-Literacy ensemble, C Plus (dude that ripped the third verse in Dahlak’s “Welcome to My Cypher”), and superfreshboys Hanlin and Bosse, both of whom’s styles we jock.
